Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG)
The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is a non-profit organisation funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the Catalan Government. Competitive grants and contractual research with the private sector provide additional funds.
The center was set up in late 2009 with the mission to carry out projects in DNA sequencing and analysis in collaboration with universities, hospitals, research centers and companies in the sector of biotechnology and pharma. Since the 1st July 2015 it is part of the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG).
The Sequencing Unit manages a large park of last-generation sequencing systems, which positions the CNAG-CRG as one of the top European centers in terms of sequencing capacity. The bioinformatics team together with an outstanding computing infrastructure (7.6 petabyte of data storage and 3472 cores of computing) places CNAG-CRG as a center of excellence in data analysis.
The CNAG-CRG takes part in genome sequencing and analysis projects in areas as cancer genetics, rare disorders, evolutionary studies and improvement of species of agricultural interest.
